An urgent message from all at Maison Bertaux, Soho
London's oldest patisserie founded 1871
To all our dear customers,
from London and beyond, who since 1871 have enjoyed cafe life in our unique Soho establishment - all who have delighted in our French patisserie created daily in the rooms upstairs - to all who have passed through - we ask you now to help us at this devastating time so that joyful conversation and delicious pastries can survive and thrive for many more years in Greek Street, Soho.
We are raising funds to keep Maison Bertaux and its staff afloat and pay our suppliers. We will need at least £1250 just to cover our overheads for every week that the corona virus has shut our shop. Without this financial lifeline the business will disappear and Maison Bertaux may never reopen.
We will engage with all government offers of help but It is difficult for us to know exactly when this help will arrive and how this money will be allocated. This is why we need your support now.
None of us expected 2020 to be so difficult and we regret having to ask - but we feel a deep obligation to an institution which has steered its way through two World Wars, many recessions and rising costs, to help it continue its journey.
Next year will be the shop's 150th birthday and with your help and support we can ensure we are still here to celebrate and greet you.
Thank you - sending you our very best wishes at this difficult time.
Michele and all at Maison Bertaux
