Support Maja to reach her target in World Archery
Donation protected
My name is Maja Kecskés, I’m a 14-year-old from Sydney, Australia.
I have been participating in club, state and national archery competitions for almost 7 years, shooting more than 30,000 recorded and about the same number of practice arrows.
I am writing to request your support in funding my first overseas competition at the World Archery Youth Championships (Under 18 division) in Limerick, Ireland, from 1-9 July 2023.
While I have been selected for the Australian Team (See newsletter here), my family is facing a significant financial hurdle, since youth archery is a self-funded sport.
To attend this championship, it would cost AUD 7500. This includes return airfare ($4700 - peak season travel), accommodation, food and transport ($2800).
Over the years I have already achieved several significant results, including selections for the NSW state and the National Team, winning National Youth Championships and the Archery NSW Youth Series Recurve Trophy.
Based on my results so far, I was invited to participate in the National Pathways Squad, which is a significant step towards competing in major events such as the 2028 Los Angeles and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
A week ago, I achieved the following results at the Trans-Tasman Challenge and World Archery Oceania International Championships (Adelaide, 6-16 April) in the Under 16 category:
Trans-Tasman Challenge:
- Gold medal in the Individual Ranking Round
- Gold medal in the Mixed Team Matchplay
- Silver medal in the Individual Match-play
- Bronze medal in the U16 National Team
World Archery Oceania Championship:
- Gold medal in the Individual Ranking Round
- Gold medal in the Individual Match-play
These competitions are essential for my development as an athlete and provide me with the opportunity to represent my country on the world stage.
I am committed to training hard and reaching my goals in archery.
All donations will help me get a step closer to achieving my dream of representing Australia in this and future international competitions.
Your support means a lot to me, and any contribution you can make, no matter how small, will be much appreciated.
Thank you for considering my request.
