Majiah’s Journey to recovery

We have such an amazing community. The way that you all showed up and showed out for the Nash and Briggs Family really shows what we can do as a community when we are all united. Their GoFundMe accounts have nearly exceeded their expectation, alleviating some of the emotional burden my Majiah has been experiencing and very much aids in her journey to emotional stability.

Majiah is sweet, compassionate , and wise beyond her time. It has been such a privilege to watch her grow and evolve into the young woman that she is today. She was able to show the world just how selfless she is, as she played a vital role in rescuing the child of DeVonte Nash and Tajaliyah Briggs, and nephew of Ta’Ron Briggs who tragically lost their lives due to power line that fell on their vehicle right outside her room window.

We all watched Majiah heroically and humbly report the chilling details of that day. She watched three innocent people lose their lives in an unimaginable way while managing to rescue their child from the same fate.

As her family we’ve been keeping a close eye on her, and doing our best to help her process the surge of emotions that are coming and going. Each day we are seeing the gravity and impact of that day become more and more real for her.

We know that her healing journey will not be linear, but it has, however, cemented her desire to;

- work with children and up a daycare center that focuses on safety and mental health for marginalized communities

- partner with state officials to educate the public on electrical currents and best practices on what to do when encountering a power line that is down.

- provide resources for marginalized communities during inclement weather to assist with transportation needs, to hopefully prevent such tragedy from happening in the future.
