Major Heart Attack 47 year old Matt needs support

Donation protected
Matthew is a hard working self employed 47 year old man. He had a major heart attack on Tuesday Oct 12, 2021 while at Kent in Dartmouth Crossing.
He was there for a job he was working on but can’t remember the particulars of why. Matt is experiencing short term memory loss and confusion since the incident.
He does not remember the day it happened or anything from almost a week before it took place. He asked his sister if they had Thanksgiving dinner the weekend before his heart attack.
He does not remember driving to Truro on Thanksgiving to see his girlfriend and her 8 year old son, who looks up to Matt as his dad.
On Tuesday October 19, while Matt was in his room in the hospital with his brother-in-law, a paramedic stopped at the door and said “Matthew I am so happy to see you sitting in that bed”.
She went on to tell the story and fill in the blanks as to what happened on October 12. The following is the recount as shared by Matt’s brother-in-law due to Matt’s memory loss.
On Oct 12, Matt called a coworker to tell him he wasn’t feeling well and that he needed to come meet him at Kent.
The co-worker called the boss for the job being worked on. When the co-worker arrived, he saw Matt fall to the ground. He went into Kent and called for help.
A person qualified in CPR came out and started CPR on Matt. The paramedics arrived and took over. She (the paramedic) apologized to Matt for pounding so hard on his chest. He said “Thank you” for saving me.
She said they worked on him hard and that he was dead for at least 8 minutes! They took him to Halifax due to his readings.
A dye test was done and it was found that his main artery was 100% blocked; They were able to put a stint in and he was sent to CCU.
The paramedic told him that only 10% of the people who suffer his type of heart attack survive. We are so THANKFUL he is one of them.
Matt was sedated and put in a medically induced coma. They did a body cooling for 24 hours. It was a very difficult time for family and friends.
Matt was moved from CCU into a regular ward and then was released on Thursday October 21.
Thankfully Matt is home recovering. He has a long road ahead of him.

There were so many prayers said by prayers groups that brought Matt through this! Thank you everyone.

Matt is self employed and does not have any insurance to help him pay his medical bills and living expenses. He works very hard and usually works at least 6 days a week.
He does painting, inside and out, building repair work, some carpentry, etc. He lives in the basement apartment of a bungalow where his 81 year old mother lives on the main floor.
His payments include a mortgage, truck payment (needed for him to work when he can return), utilities, food, etc.
He also travels to Truro each weekend.

Matt is suffering from short term memory loss which will hopefully improve over time. He can’t go back to work until this improves and until he gets stronger.
He is now on several medications for life as a result of the heart attack.

We are so thankful that we have been Blessed with his progress so far. Matthew, and his family, very much appreciate any help you can provide. No amount is too small.
Please continue to pray for Matt and his recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
