Major medical condition requesting help.

Hello, my name is Jay, I am a single father of an 8 year old son who means the world to me.

I never thought I would think of a GoFundMe for myself but due to unforeseen sudden and a serious health condition that has happened to me, here I am. To start, I have a fairly physical full time job, that requires to be present at work. At the end of October, I woke up with a fever and chills. I thought it was the flu, but it felt different from a normal flu, my whole body ached. After two days from when I started feeling sick, I went to the urgent care. The doctors immediately admitted me into the hospital and immediately started me on antibiotics. The doctors also started to do all kinds of testing on me. I was very weak and was not doing well. The doctors told me I had Sepsis, a major infection with the cellulitis in my leg. My leg was huge from the swelling. I was told by the doctors I was very lucky I came in when I did as I was in a life threatening situation. The doctors got my infection under control and gave me clearance to go home after 10 days in the hospital. Even though I got clearance to go home, I was not cleared to work. I currently have to go to doctors’ appointments every day to have my leg wrapped for wound care. At home I have to keep my leg up as much as possible to keep the swelling down. Thankfully while I was in the hospital my son was able to stay with my parents, who have helped me a lot and I am very grateful for them. The reason for this posting is because for the past two months, I am not physically able to work at my job until I am cleared to do so. I have a ways to go with recovery and healing, I have been with no income and living on savings and cutting back as much as I can. I am running out of savings but the cost of living doesn’t stop. I know there may be hospital bills coming up, which I am not sure how much my insurance will cover. I am asking for help to cover these basic living expenses and help to cover the monthly bills for me and my son. My work has been supportive during my sick time and know this is taking longer than ever expected. The long-term disability I’ve applied for won’t kick in for a while and even then, its only half what I would earn if I was working my regular 40 hours a week. I am not used to asking for help, I have always tried to work for everything I have. But my sudden medical issue has really put us in a financial bind. I am not out of the woods yet, however the doctors have said they do think that I will make a full recovery, but it will take some time. I am hoping this recovery will not take too long. I really have no idea when I can go back to work. I am currently trying to find some remote work and looking at free online education, so I can improve my qualifications for possible opportunities in the meantime. I am not used to not doing anything, I’ve been a worker my whole life. So I ask, any amount would be greatly appreciated for my son and I. I pray everyday that my health will get better.
