Major's Trip Home

UPDATE! Fox 32 Chicago did a segment on Major and immediately a suburban police sergeant (who would like to remain anonymous to the public) called to offer to drive him back to Georgia! So I picked Major up last night from the shelter, kept him with me overnight, and then drove out to the suburbs this morning where I handed him off and they started their journey to take Major home! 

The purpose of this gofundme is now to send support directly to the family who will be purchasing supplies (new kennel, harness, food, bowls, toys) for Major since he was gone (for three months). Additionally,  a follow up vet visit as he was neutered at the shelter so his regular vet in Georgia will provide check up for him.

I am a volunteer at an animal shelter in Chicago and writing on behalf of Major and his owner.

 

Major is a big, beautiful American Bulldog with a dazzling personality. A few weeks ago he came in as a chipped stray and the staff at the shelter found that his owner was located in rural Georgia.

 

No one knows how he ended up more than 950 miles from home but his owner, Michael said he disappeared from his backyard a month ago so he thinks Major was stolen. He was so surprised to hear that he was all the way in Chicago! Michael, his wife Trude, and their daughter Ericka, have had Major since he was a pup and they would love to get have him back home.

 

I have received a few estimates for one-way (ground) pet transportation for Major to make the journey from Chicago to Georgia to his dad Michael; a retired, cancer-surviving, 30-year Army veteran!
