Makana was standing on a flat roof when she tripped and fell 15 feet to the ground below.
The impact of the fall fractured 3 vertebra, both ankles and heels and her left wrist.
She has undergone surgery on her left wrist, her right ankle, and she had a major back surgery to install 2 titanium rods from L1 to L3 to stabilize the spine and avoid possible paralysis.
Funds are needed immediately for Makana to stay adjacent to the hospital with a round-the-clock caregiver for a minimum of 6 weeks for weekly medical visits. She had to be transferred to a hospital 150 miles from home.
Her doctors estimate that she will not be able to walk or return to work for a minimum of 5 months. Her rent, utilities and food need to be paid for the duration of her recovery as well as physical therapy.
Despite the trauma of the accident all the procedures she has undergone and all recovery that is before her, she is grateful and in good spirits.
