Makayla Wagner Strong!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Kara, a friend of Makayla and her family. I have had a few people reach out asking if there is any way to help Makayla or her family during this time. No one knows time line of recovery. She was in the critical care unit on a ventilator and then had a trach which was removed on 11/7. She remained in the ICU for 23 days! She is currently breathing on her own, doing occupational, and physical therapy. Makayla was a full time nursing student prior to this unfortunate situation. These funds will be used to help her with medical costs, bills, and anything else she may need during her recovery process. This journey will be lengthy but those of you know Makayla she is incredibly tough and such a fighter! Thank you in advance. Her and her family need the continued love, prayers, and support.
A little backstory-
Makayla started feeling feverish, chills, fatigued around the 10th/11th. Went to Dr with a negative test for mono but still treated as on the 12th. Swollen lymph nodes on the 12th/13th. 14th numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Gradually got worse. Monday was taken to the ER from pain and couldn’t hardly walk. And within hours was administered, and told she would be sedated/placed on ventilator due to unable to breathe properly. She has had many test, MRI, spinal tap, ect with no solid answer. They feel a lot of these symptoms are categorized similar to Guillian-Barré Syndrome (GBS) or a like strand of Miller Fisher (MFS) . That test came back negative but they may have caught it early enough. Makayla’s MRI did show swelling around her brain but has since decreased in her latest test.
update 11/7-
Makayla is currently waiting on placement at an acute rehabilitation facility to help her along her path for recovery! She continues to be outstandingly strong!
