Help Senior Citizens make honeymoon dream a reality

Hi, our names are Carol and Dennis. Dennis is 69, I am 58, and we have never had a honeymoon. I know, I know, we are old and some of you probably think this is silly, but we just thought "What the heck? Let's throw this out there and see if there are any romantics out there who might want to contribute to this project!" Dennis and I met not long after his wife passed away from a long battle with COPD and my husband passed away with a long battle with cancer, both in 2012. We married in 2013, after having thought that we would not get married again, but just wanting to have a friend to do things with. Ah, but Cupid struck, and we have not only a best friend, but a soul mate. Now wouldn't you just know, in 2016, we were at the ER, and a doctor just blurted out to Dennis, "Hey, man, didn't you know you have leukemia?"
Well, that threw us for a loop, but we've taken it in stride. We are not letting that get us down, and Dennis is brave, wonderful, and is doing great, in fact, his blood counts are better now than they were this time last year! After that little glitch, we lost our home to Hurricane Ida, but we were all ok, my Mama, who we are caregivers for (tell me I don’t have a wonderful man, not a complaint about this) and all of us, our pets too, got out safely! We have a home now in Alabama. We are safe, a roof over our head and are together. We have true, true love. It actually seems to make people shake their heads at times, some of our friends have told us to calm down with the pda, but until you have had true love, real true love, you don’t understand it. I wish that for everyone reading this!
We are so thankful for our lives and to have them together-Dennis says he’d agree but I don’t stop talking long enough to let him :-)
Well, thats why we have decided to just go crazy and not ask for money for bills - although we have tons of them; not ask for money for serious things, but ask for money for a honeymoon. We have planned a trip to Savannah, GA or to Gatlinburg TN with a trip to Nashville, TN so Dennis can enjoy some music! Dennis plays music, so he actually played a gig on our wedding night. (We figured we were old and didn't need a real wedding night or honeymoon, now we are regretting it!)
We aren't making too big of a deal over this request, so we are just throwing it out there. We don't want to take away from anyone who needs money more. So if you would like to contribute, please feel free to, and we do so appreciate it. If not, that's truly okay, and we appreciate your reading our story. Just remember, if you doubt true love can happen to you, don't doubt - IT CAN!
Us in Savannah-we had gone to the wedding of Dennis’s son and drove an hour or so over and stayed one night there. Would love to go there again, or to some American Revolutionary Battlefield…anywhere together is a great day!
