Make Jessica's Dream Come True!

Jessica Wicks, a beloved community member, elder, role model, and friend to so many of us has a dream, and we can help that dream become reality. Medicare provides a standard issue wheelchair, which she has needed to use since spine issues put her there over three years ago.  She can walk with assistance only a short distance so a chair is a necessity. Let her explain in her own words: 

“In reality, wheel chairs are an extension of the body. If we were to have an artificial limb for instance, it would be fitted to our body for our needs. In much the same way it is for a wheelchair. The standard issue chair is not balanced, weighs too much and is highly restrictive in a world still not really made accessible to those of us who must use mobility devices.  I do not want an electric chair, but one that affords the greatest degree of mobility, rather one that allows me to use my upper body which is still very much intact.  After extensive shopping, I have found that chair that will literally change my life in profound ways.

These chairs are not cheap, and in over a year now by scrimping and saving from my social security, I’ve raised about a third of the $3000 cost.  Jayce offered to host this fundraiser, and my heart swells in gratitude.  Each day I see so clearly what being in real community is all about!
