Jim's Road to Recovery

Jim Edwards' life was forever changed on May 15, 2006 after he was hit by a logging truck from behind while he was on the job working for 84 Lumber Company.
Jim was a very successful salesman for 84 Lumber and worked for this company 22 years. He sustained a traumatic brain injury from the accident and is now permanently disabled. The Edwards' family over several years has been exploring the treatment of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy. They have been in court multiple times requesting the treatment and their request has been denied.
Jim's neurologist, who has been his doctor from the time of the accident, has been pushing for this therapy and it has been continuously denied by worker's compensation. This treatment is a highly pressurized chamber of 100% oxygen. HBO creates oxygenation in tissue up to 2,000% which provides immediate help to cells that are compromised by poor blood flow. It will improve the physical, emotional and mental disability and hopefully reduce the amount of medications Jim has to take on a daily basis.
Recently, Jim had been hospitalized in St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland for a week where they met a wonderful nurse whose husband is affiliated with the Washington Redskins. She explained to the family that her husband could get Jim help with Dr. Cardoza in North Bethesda and would make sure he would call. Last week he called and offered for the family to tour the facility and explained that his treatment would be an eight week treatment plan, Monday through Friday.
The cost is $225 per treatment per day. This cost will not be covered by Medicare or by his workers compensation. This is such a wonderful opportunity for a person that has been a wonderful father, husband and friend, to improve the quality of his life and even prolong his life. The family wants to thank you from the bottom of their hearts for helping Jim and his family. The help even over the years has been a blessing to them in which they are truly grateful!!! Love, the Edwards Family
