My name is Ita. Asking for help is not something I tend to do very often. We recently got the most heartbreaking news, my beautiful big sister, my best friend, my go to person has cancer a third time and within two years of her first diagnosis. This time the prognosis is not silver lined. There is no offer of surgery because of where one of the tumours has grown. She has been given a timeframe on this earth, some may see this as a positive. She can fill in as much as she can with her husband, children, family and friends before it takes hold of her. I am asking for your help, for whatever you can give to help Aine make memories with her four children Joshua, Shea, Oisin & Ava in the little time they have left.
If you know me, then you know that this is hard for me to do, to ask, but it’s for Aine so I’m not thinking twice. Me, aine and our other siblings lost our father to lung cancer at the end of January last year after caring for him at home. Aine and daddy were diagnosed one day apart, on the 1st of June 2019, Aine’s 38th birthday. Aine underwent her surgery to remove part of her bowel, she had some time to heal before starting her round of chemotherapy, which was hard enough without the helplessness of seeing our father going through his final journey. Aine’s cancer returned a second time later in 2020 which seen her have her uterus removed. This was then followed by our beautiful selfless mum contracting COVID which seen her in an induced coma, leaving us fearing the worst. Now less than a year later from the second surgery the cancer has returned a third time, this time in her pelvis and behind her stomach. This cancer is aggressive but we are still hopeful that the chemotherapy, prayers and love gets her past her prognosis. We are constantly looking at other options. Time is precious and we should make the most of it.
