Help Make My Article Open Access

I am in the process of publishing my first peer-reviewed journal article. This is so exciting! And I would love for the article to be published under a Creative Commons license.
The article is for a special journal issue focusing on intellectual property (IP) law in Africa. The students and researchers I hope can find my work most useful and build on it in the future are the least likely to be able to pay for access to a journal. If the article is open access, anyone who wants to read it, copy it or share it will not need to worry about whether or not they can afford a license from the publisher.
This journal's publisher allows authors to make their articles open access. However, for authors from developed countries, like the U.S., there is a fee the author must pay to the publisher. This fee helps offset the publisher's lost future licensing revenue. I cannot afford the fee on my own, so I am asking your help in raising the amount needed.
More on benefits of open access.
$3400 single article open access fee to publish under CC-BY
$270 estimated Go-Fund Me fees
Goal: $3670
About me: I am an attorney focused on international intellectual property, currently working in the area of copyright policy. My independent research and writing focuses on intellectual proprety in Sub-Saharan Africa. You can find examples of the types of things I enjoy covering on http://afro-ip.blogspot.com/. I began my legal career at Creative Commons.
