Aussie Ark, located in the Barrington Tops, is Australia’s largest mainland breeding facility for disease free Tasmanian Devils. In Tasmania, the fatal Devil Facial Tumour Disease has spread rapidly through the native wild devil population.

At the rate the disease is decimating the local population, Devils are likely to disappear forever in Tasmania. Having robust, disease-free, insurance breeding populations, is the only guarantee for the long-term survival of the species.

Aussie Ark is the most cost-effective conservation program operating to save the Tasmanian Devil. Our costs for raising a Tasmanian Devil at Aussie Ark is $2,500 per year as compared to <$20,000 per year it costs most other organisations!

We create safe, predator-free, conservation sanctuaries, where Devils are able to maintain their natural wild behaviours, thereby ensuring they have a better chance of survival when rewilded to Tasmania.
