Shirley Mae Weikert: Make the World Beautiful Fund
Donation protected
Shirley Mae Weikert, 90, of Littlestown, PA, passed away peacefully at Genesis Healthcare on Monday, December 5, 2022, surrounded by love.
After graduating from high school and earning her Cosmetology license, she opened Shirley Weikert’s Beauty Shop in Littlestown, PA, on March 18, 1959, and dedicated her life to making the world beautiful as a hairdresser and business owner for the next 63 years, doing her final haircut just a few months ago. She was the "original girl boss" with a personality full of determination, resilience, independence, passion, and an unmatched work ethic. She lived on her feet, working long hours to serve her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Following her passing, we've changed the sign; the beauty shop sign now says "closed," and the calendar she changed every day has been updated one last time.
As her oldest granddaughter, I shared an important message as part of our final words: our family would continue her legacy of making the world beautiful for years to come. To honor her positive impact on her family, friends and customers, I hope you will join us in continuing her legacy by donating, so we can honor her by supporting women in the beauty business as they continue to make the world beautiful.
