Makin’ Lemonade: A Coronavirus Relief Fund
Donation protected
We are a collective of young, like-minded, passionate and ambitious Gen Z’ers & Millennials who want to make a difference during these unfortunate times. We remember the days of making our own Lemonade Stands to help the community, and always loved the hustle...
Since launching the Makin’ Lemonade Fund over two weeks ago, our team has grown to over 200+ college students & young entrepreneurs and we’ve partnered with greek organizations across 60+ Universities nationwide. Some of the colleges include: Michigan, Harvard, Cornell, Penn State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Stevens Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, Ohio State, Wake Forest and Rutgers among others.
In two short weeks, we are at over $40,000 which is incredible, and a huge thank you to all the donors & participants. We are truly the solution during this fight against coronavirus.
Our team is passionate about making a difference and has been hard at work daily having Zoom meetings to make sure we are moving quickly and efficiently toward our goal of $100,000 raised. It’s been incredible to see the movement and impact in such a short time.
At the core, we are the voice of the next generation wanting to make a difference now and quickly to help those in need. We must make lemonade with what we got. Let’s do this together and collectively, we can make an immediate, much needed impact.
We have partnered with 143 Collective (Founder: Matt Coulter) as our nonprofit distribution partner & fiscal sponsor to appropriately, efficiently and transparently allocate our funds. The 143 Collective is specialized in non-profit development, fiscal sponsorship, community activism and additional outreach.
With 143 Collective’s help we will donate to three incredible organizations that can help prevent, treat and support all of those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. We will be equally distributing the proceeds we raise to the following organizations:
The CDC Foundation:
Donations made to the CDC Foundation’s COVID-19 response support deploying emergency staffing to U.S. public health agencies, funding medical supplies, increasing lab capacity, providing support to vulnerable communities, and much more.
The Direct Relief Fund:
Direct Relief is coordinating with public health authorities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in the U.S., China and globally to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and essential medical items to health workers responding to coronavirus (COVID-19).
Feeding America:
The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. Donors, staff, and volunteers all play an important role in our efforts to end hunger in the United States. Every dollar raised from the COVID-19 response fund will be used to get food and funds to local food banks across the U.S.
As part of our agreement, 143 Collective will withdraw funds beginning next week (as soon as GoFundMe clears them) and will transfer the funds to the three organizations within 72 hours of receipt. After each withdrawal period, we will post an update to this page with the amount donated to each respective organization.
