Making an impact.......one village at a time

Hey, my name is Summer Lowrie, I am 17 years old and currently a student. i know this will be a lot to read but taking your time to read this will be greatly appreciated. I am fundraising for an expedition with Camps International to help and create a brighter future by working on a range of projects and initiatives aligned to the UN Sustainable Development goals designed to make a lasting impact on Kenya’s most critical issues.

This will involve building and renovating schools so that local children have a clean and safe environment for learning. Other activities will focus on the promotion of a peaceful co-existence between the community and local wildlife.

In the summer of 2025 I will hopefully begin my journey to Kenya to visit Camp Tsavo and Camp Muhaka where I will help with the school improvements and conservational work in the area.

Many local schools are in very dilapidated buildings which suffer from erosion and seasonal flooding. I will help to build or renovate school buildings so that local children have a clean and safe academic environment. I will also get involved in initiatives to promote a peaceful co-existence between the community and the local wildlife, such as improving natural waterholes and planting indigenous trees for habitat and food sources.

Once i have completed my studies I am hoping to travel more to reach out and hopefully learn more and help other projects and cultures. The pictures included are some of the things i will be helping to do whilst in Kenya.

I am currently working two part time jobs in between my A level studies to try to pay as much as i can towards this worthy cause. I will be planning various other fundraising activities in the coming months and will update you all with these and share how I am getting on.
