BACKGROUND:
In a time of global crisis, it is imperative we come together to make sense of who we are and what we can become.

Our Project:
It’s been over a year since professional and community artists around the world have been able to work and gather. Now more than ever we must turn from our screens and reach safely and creatively across social distancing to connect as one world. Now more than ever, when it feels like so much is pushing us away from unity and harmony, we must strive, to connect – all of us.

This project seeks to connect artists and community, innovate how we can make art within restrictions and learn from each other about weathering crisis. Artists from Canada, Brazil, India, Scotland, Bangladesh, Ghana, and Chile will work with community to create nearly 49 pieces of art chronicling the impact of Covid-19 and the climate crisis. These art works (dance, theatre, sound, visual art) will culminate in a live participatory engagement at COP26 in November 2021, and then be curated into one interactive digital piece to be shared with the world.

These seven groups will take a hero's journey loosely following the ancient Sufi poem Conference of the Birds, guided by theatre makers in Glasgow and Toronto, an Indigenous Canadian Anishawbe elder and artist and a design thinker from the Netherlands[ME3] .

Why we need your help:

While some artists and community groups have been able to access funds or grants in support of this work, others have not. You can help in the creation of art and engagement of communities that will have both global reach and local impact.

And we need like-minded citizens to engage with these actions, concepts, creations and understanding and amplify them – on social media, in crowd-funding and in witnessing and consuming (and possibly participating in) the art made by community members around the world.

Your donation will support artistic expression, understanding and activist empowerment of artists and citizens around the world - whether youth and elders in care homes in Chile, Canadian artists living with disability, sex workers and their children in India, artists who emerged from favelas across Brazil, impoverished youth in Ghana or Bangledeshi artists in Glasgow or Bangladesh.

Imagine all of these ‘voices’ in one piece of art. With your help, we can make this.

How we will use your donation:
Fifty percent of your donation will go towards the infrastructure costs of building, managing, marketing and producing the overall project. Fifty percent will go towards the country of your choice - to the artists and community members they are working with to make the art that will contribute the collective global piece – a piece that will be accessible to citizens around the world.
Please indicate in the comments which country you would like 50% of your donation to go to. Or use the "contact" button next to the organizer to send us a private message.
If no country is identified by you as the donor, we will allocate to the country in the most need of funds to make their work.

What you will receive:
You will receive a link/copy of the final curated art piece and recognition on the project website.  We will also recognize your donation (if you choose) on the project website.

How you will make a difference:
Help us support these artistic community responses that explore the challenges we face when dealing with the impact of Covid19 and Climate Emergency on a personal, economic, environmental, political, local, national, and international scale; these responses that in turn will generate additional engagement with a broader global public and allow us all to understand steps we can take for greater unity – with each other and the earth.

The art and connections made in this project can morph in the future into live performances and the advancement of an interactive digital game around community engagement with the environment .Your support can help us realize all of this and help artists and communities thrive in these uncertain times.
