Making Irene's house a safe home again
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James Anderson from Depher cic ......
A friend and neighbour of Irene,s contacted me and depher to ask if we could help in any way; her friend told me how worried she was for Irene, with winter coming and the cost of living impacting so many.
I agreed to visit her in Liverpool, arranged a day and met her at Irene,s address.
When i arrived, Irene was very polite and smiling; she was also very distracted because she has breathing issues because of COPD, and she is on Oxygen every day.
Her gas supplier capped the gas supply to her home because of the Gas Hob; it was dangerous and could have caused significant safety issues for her.
This left her without heating or hot water from her boiler; the boiler had never been serviced, which was also deemed dangerous.
This is her back door to the house, not secure at all and letting a permanent wind into her home, alone on a deep winter's night, could cause extreme cold or even hypothermia.
She tries her best to survive under the circumstances; she needs support from Depher and the community.
There are many issues in her home that she cannot do or afford to have, which is why she needs support now; it may save her life this winter.
Irene is on oxygen; she suffers from COPD as well as other health issues; if she is left in this situation, it could be catastrophic for her and her son, her son visits her daily, but he is in no position to deal with the number of problems in the home.
A giant crack across the window, a risk to safety
There are many dangers in her home, some that need immediate attention and some that can be set in place.
The most critical issues are:
Her Gas
The Hob
The boiler
The fire
Front door
Back door
Plumbing in the bathroom leaking
Carpets
Kitchen cupboard
broken window
She said her bathroom needs attention; it leaks through the ceiling.
She does not want her face showing because she feels ashamed; I told her not to be. We have all had times where we just gave up; she did when her beloved husband passed away many years ago.
Life has not been the same since then; it has taken its toll on her physically and mentally.
We are fundraising to make Irene's house into a home again; we are supplying
CARPETS
BOILER
CONTROLS FOR THE NEW BOILER
DOORS FRONT AND BACK
KITCHEN CUPBOARD
LINO
NEW HOB
SKIP FOR ALL THE UNWANTED ITEMS
PAINTING
DECORATING
A CHRISTMAS TREE WITH PRESENTS
AND CHRISTMAS FOOD FOR A QUEEN
Please support Irene; let's put this heater in a skip and give her a future of safety, warmth, and happiness wrapped up in community love.
THE WORK WILL BE STARTED ON SATURDAY 19TH NOVEMBER
Thank you
