Making Memories for Angie

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jeanine and I met Angie in 2002, when I started teaching at West Wimbledon Primary School;  first as a parent, then a year later as a colleague. We made an immediate connection and it was the start of many years of close friendship, laughter and support to come. Today, nearly every child at the school and all that have passed through, have been fortunate enough to have been touched by the warmth and care of this tremendous lady; she truly is remarkable!!

During the summer of 2017, we received the devastating news that Angie had been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.  Her whole life was thrown into turmoil, as were the lives of her 4 beautiful children and her mother.  She has been in and out of hospital fighting this terrible disease, and has kept so positive throughout.

In April this year, we got the news we had all been praying for, she was told she was ‘disease free’!! Family, friends and colleagues were over the moon to hear this happy news, and thinking the worst was behind her, the celebrations began.

In a tragic turn of events, the following day, Angie got a phone call from the hospital to say she had to go in for more tests and scans as her tumour marker was found to be too high.

Following these tests, Angie was told that the cancer had returned to her stomach and lymph nodes and the prognosis was very poor. She was told that this type of cancer is so aggressive that she won’t ever be free of it and was told to enjoy all the time she has left with those who are close to her. Friends and family found this dramatic change of circumstances too much to believe; Angie was given only one day to experience the utter relief and peace of being given the all clear.

Since that devastating news, and in TRUE ANGIE STYLE she has shown tremendous determination and positivity and will fight it all the way.

THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP:

Angie has not been able to work since July 2017 and consequently her finances have suffered.  We want all her time and energy spent enjoying her life and making memories with her friends and family, rather than worrying about how to make ends meet. Money raised will be used to cover basic living expenses, like rent, transport to hospital etc.  In addition to this we would love to treat the family to a special holiday.

Angie means to world to a huge number of people, adults and children alike.  She is so approachable, warm, caring and funny and is always the first one to support someone in need. To quote a friend ‘When you are with Angie she makes you feel uplifted, positive and always makes you laugh’.

Her children are being so brave, and are such a special support for her; this can’t be easy for them. We want her family to be able to build special memories and not worry about finances at this difficult time.

Please share her story with as many friends and family as you can.
