Be the Change in Kibera Kenya Support the Malaika Initiative
Donation protected
Malaika Initiative is making a real difference in the lives of Kenyan kids by helping them learn life skills, lifting themselves and their community up out of poverty in Kibera, the world’s largest slum. Young people here are grappling with poverty, lack of education opportunities, and unemployment.
Your support can help provide these children with a brighter future filled with opportunity and promise.
When our founder, boxer and community worker Robert Omollo started working in Kibera, he saw lots of NGOs and organizations that were stuck in talking about the problem. We decided to create an organization that from day one would be focused on giving Kibera’s youth what they need to thrive based on the community's feedback.
Since January 2024, members of the Wof Pack have contributed to Malaika Initiative, impacting the lives of thousands. Here are just a few of our accomplishments over the past months:
Youth Participation: Since January 2024, over 2,500 kids have participated in our Arts, Sports, and Mentorship program over 16 Weekend Actions and counting
Nourishment: Each participant receives a hot breakfast and lunch with over 5,000 meals served.
Self-Expression: At each Saturday event the youth get an opportunity for singing, dancing, rapping, and boxing.
Scholarships: The initiative has provided 5 scholarships to children who otherwise would not be able to attend school.
Support for Homeless Youth: We have supported 3 homeless boys with permanent housing, clothing, and food items.
Boxing Tournament: On April 27th, we organized a boxing tournament in Fort Jesus Kibera. Over 1,000 people attended and were fed. Activities included boxing and kickboxing matches for both girls and boys, followed by dance crews and local artists singing and rapping.
In order to keep running our programs and changing the lives of Kibera’s youth, we need to raise $15,000 by September 20th.
