Malakai's Football North Journey

This GoFundMe has been set up to help Malakai with an amazing opportunity through a prep school in Mississauga, Football North. We hope that in reading through this you will support him in exploring this next step in his football journey.

A Little Background

Malakai lives in Oshawa, ON with his parents Justin and Colleen who are Salvation Army Pastors, two brothers, Payton, Emery and sister Laila.

Malakai has been playing for the last 4 years in LaSalle (Warriors) and Oshawa (Hawkeyes) This has led to him playing for a local all-star team (QBFL Mon-stars) and receiving a tryout for a nationally televised football game (CFC, made last cuts in Quebec). This Spring he was presented with a huge opportunity through recruitment by Football North.

Malakai Gleadall - Profile and Highlights

Football North is one of the premier football prep programs in Canada that began operation in 2016 and is a founding member of the ECP (East Coast Power Prep) League. During this two year program, Malakai will play against some of the top US schools each year including St. Francis Academy (Baltimore, MD)

It has a strong academic standing through partnership with Clarkson Secondary School in Mississauga.

In the last 7 years the program has produced alumni succeeding on both sides of the border with 42 players securing NCAA scholarships and 118 players playing at U-Sports (Canadian University football). This has led to date to 4 players being drafted to the CFL with the potential for more to join them or to play at the NFL level in the coming years.

The program is intense and demanding during the season with daily practices, workout sessions and team meetings following their regular school day on Monday-Wednesday. On Thursday-Friday they will practice/prepare as normal for home games or will travel to the USA for games

During the off-season (November -June), they will workout, practice indoors or outdoors and prepare for Spring football while also having the opportunity to be part of school life and pursuing other sports/clubs, if desired.

This presents him an opportunity to be seen by the top US college and U-Sports (Canadian Universities) football programs.

With this premier prep program, there are significant costs that include:

Team Fees: $12,204 per year (2x)

Go Train: $300 per month (15x) with a daily commute of 1hr, 40 minutes (each way)
