Malaki’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
On Monday, my nephew Malaki was in a bicycle accident while out riding alone. Thankfully a bystander saw him fall to the ground and called 911. Upon their arrival, police and paramedics found Malaki unconscious on the ground with a very large gash to his face.
Paramedics were able to wake Malaki and he was able to tell them his name, but he then slipped back asleep. He was transported to the local hospital where he was given a CT scan and they stitched his cheek up. Although his scan came back normal, Malaki still faded in and out of consciousness, and was unable to form coherent words or sentences. Due to the lack of improvement the doctors decided to keep him overnight for observation. Throughout the night when Malaki would awaken for just a few minutes, the doctors would ask him cognitive questions to base his status on. Malaki’s long term memory was intact, however he struggled with his short term memory. He knew the year but did not know the day. He could only form 1-2 words, saying "head hurt", "need mom", etc.
Malaki fell back to sleep for hours at a time, and luckily each time he awoke, the family was able to see slight cognitive improvement with him slowly gaining motor function and memory. Although Malaki’s brain is seeming to improve, his body is still struggling with providing enough oxygen when he falls into his deep sleep. Given this issue, doctors decided to keep him for observation another night. As Malaki stays in the hospital, he is working with the wonderful specialists at the hospital: neurological, cognitive, respiratory and lung, speech therapists, and possible rehabilitation, all working to get him back to a normal, functioning place.

Unfortunately, his family is struggling to keep up with the medical bills. Each day that he stays in the hospital, the bill grows.
Malaki is a wonderful big brother and son, who is just getting adjusted to their new life since moving to this area. Please help if you can, and share to anyone you think would be willing to give. Thank you.
