Malcolm Winter - Mally's Retirement Gift

Hello!

I'm Bee Chapman (secretary to William Jarvis) and I have been asked by William and my colleagues at Phantom House to organise this fundraiser for Mally's retirement gift.

Mally started work at Phantom House in 1985 when William took out his license in 1985 having worked together when William was assistant to Henry Cecil.

Over the years Mally has travelled hundreds of thousands of miles with runners and welcomed back hundreds of Phantom House winners. It’s a well-known fact that travelling head grooms are just about as hard-working a band of people as you could wish to meet. Early starts and late finishes are often the name of the game; though in latter years Mally has opted for a more yard based role whilst still caring for the racing tack, colours and packing up for runners at home and abroad.

He has attained the grand old age of 73, with very nearly 39 at Phantom House, and only wear and tear troubles with his shoulder have stopped him, he officially finishes on Saturday 16th September.

We all wish him a long and happy retirement and are grateful for any contribution to this fund. We will check with Mally’s wife, Anthea, what would be the best/most useful thing for him but it could well be something for the garden which he loves.
