Malea's Journey to BEAT Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jill, and most of you now know that my sister-in-law Malea was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma-Clear Cell subtype on Valentine's Day of this year. She has been traveling back and forth to MD Anderson for treatment. Some of you know Malea's story and some of you don't. She has had quite a long medical history since birth. She has had multiple surgeries in her lifetime and has dealt with medical issues that most of us would never encounter. Malea is a fighter and she will no doubt conquer this just like she has so bravely conquered every other medical issue life has dealt her. Although this time it will be a little tricky, you see, Malea only has one kidney, so it's not as simple as removing the entire kidney and being done. Malea will have surgery on 05/02/23. They will go in and try to remove the mass. In a perfect scenario, her kidney will jump right back into a previous function (which was at CKD Stage 3b) and she will only be in the hospital for a week. If it does not, then she will have to be on dialysis until further notice and her hospital stay will lengthen. Our prayer is that the surgery goes well and that the doctor can remove the entire mass and her kidney cooperates with us. Even if the surgery goes perfectly, she will still be out of work for a minimum of 8 to 10 weeks. She has already burned through all of her paid time off due to hospitalizations and doctor visits for the year. Her husband will also miss a lot of work to be with her. I am starting this go fund me to try to lift some of the burdens of the expenses they will encounter and to help cover any bills while she is unable to work. We especially would like all the prayers you can give for her, her husband, and her 14-year-old girls. WE LOVE YOU MALEA and you WILL beat this!!
