Help Malia have an amazing dance season…
Donation protected
It takes a village, and I’m hoping our village can help us reach our goal.
Anyone who knows Malia knows that she has a love and passion for dance, it isn’t just a hobby for her, it is truly a part of who she is.
When you look at this goal you might wonder “why don’t you just take her out of dance” and the short answer is that if that is what it comes down to, I will, but I need to know I did everything I could to keep her in the one thing that has been constant in her life since she was 4 years old.
As a military kiddo Malia has lived in 3 different states and in Japan in her first 10 years of life. Dance has been Malia’s consistent space in a changing world. A year and a half ago our home life drastically changed and the family Malia has at her dance studio became an even bigger part of her world. Life changes can be messy and I am trying to protect Malia from the hardships caused by it. In this case, that protection means trying to keep her in dance, doing what she loves with the people she loves…and if you know competitive dance, the price can add up quickly. With the help of family and close friends last dance season we were able to make sure Malia was able to dance with her team and compete in her 4th competitive season. In her 3rd competition of last season her solo placed 5th overall out of 106 solos in her age and division, and we are so thankful for everyone who cheered her on, in person, virtually or through support!
This year Malia would love to dance in the Nutcracker for her 4th year, and was cast in two roles plus holds an understudy role! She auditioned for her 5th year in company and was selected to be on the Junior Elite team! She was also selected for a solo, trio, small group ballet, hip hop crew and invited to 2 production companies. This has the potential to be an amazing season, but this is where we need help! The dance season starts in a few weeks and fees are starting to be assessed for the upcoming year. Please consider making a donation, which will go toward Nutcracker fees, choreography weeks, alumni and ballet intensive weeks, solo/trio/small group choreography, costume fees, tuition and eventually competition fees.
Being a single mom is hard, asking for help is harder. If you have made it to the end of this, thank you. If you are able to donate, thank you. If you are willing to share this with your village, THANK YOU! ❤️
