Malia Stuart - Team BCYT National competition
Donation protected
Hi friends!
If you haven’t heard yet, our Malia Stuart has earned a spot on TEAM BC/YT to represent BC at Skate Canada Challenge in Novice women singles, to be held in Oakville, Ontario from February 1-4, 2024!! What an accomplishment for this small town Squamish girl!
Competition is high for this team and Malia has earned one of 6 coveted spots on the team. She has also earned her very first bursary from Skate Canada as one of 34 skaters of all ages (in total!) in Canada for executing difficult elements for her age in competition. Though this is a great accomplishment, the bursary was very small and only covered part of the entry fee for one competition.
The very best young figure skaters in Canada will be in Oakville, ON this February, and Malia will be there representing our province and her small town of Squamish, BC.
As you can imagine, a figure skater of Malia’s caliber must train full time, 6 days a week for many hours over many years to achieve the level she has reached. Since there are still little to no funding available for skaters at her age and level, we are reaching out to you to support our girl in getting to Nationals, and to help her continue to pursue her dream of one day being a member of Team Canada.
Malia must aim to raise $4000+ to cover all travel, hotel, equipment upkeep, coaching and entry fees for this single National competition. Additionally, Malia must pay for her own dresses and choreography and any additional coaching sessions required. Should she place in the top 18, she will then go on to the Canadian Skating Championships with the Junior and Senior competitors - the absolute very best skaters in our Nation!
That is why we ask you to please consider joining our efforts to raise funds for her. Any way you can donate to help sponsor this incredibly talented, hard-working and promising young skater from your community would be very much appreciated!
Thank you!
