Malignant Neoplasm of the Sigmoid Colon Treatment

After going through many symptoms that took a toll on me this year, tests were scheduled & My Family and I received devastating news that no one would ever want to hear. I was Diagnosed at age 46 with Malignant Neoplasm of the Sigmoid Colon & a surgery called the Robotic Sigmoid Colectomy is scheduled for this Friday, 7/28/23.

Although we have insurance, it doesn’t cover Deductibles & Copayments. These Medical Bills are coming at us so quickly, it’s unrealistic. (Just the copays for 3 procedures: Colonoscopy, CT Scan & Robotic Surgery is already $6,500 out of pocket) I used up all my Paid Leave with doctors visits & missing work because of symptoms in the past. I am now on LWOP which leaves us with one household Income. It is so hard to watch My husband do everything in his power to make this easier on me. He’s always made things happen for our family but this is the one thing that may tear him down. Our kids are trying to be strong by supporting us in any way they can. They’ve been Researching and Searching for Resources to help. Medical History:

On 7/10 My Gastroenterologist performed a Colonoscopy for a Colorectal Cancer Screening which confirmed a Mass Tumor obstruction on my Sigmoid Colon which discontinued the Complete Colonoscopy. Biopsy was sent to Pathologist & CT Scan of Abdomen & Pelvis was ordered immediately.

7/11 CT Abdominal & Pelvic Scan Results confirmed Tumor of the Sigmoid Colon with 14mm Lesion on the Left Hepatic Lobe of the Liver (indeterminate for Metastasis) & an Ovary too close to the Mass Tumor.

7/12 Gastroenterologist discussed results of Both Pathology Report & CT Scan which Confirmed Mass Tumor to be Cancerous at Stage 2-3. Immediate Surgery was recommended with possible Chemotherapy Treatment after.

7/14 General Surgeon Confirmed Malignant Neoplasm of the Sigmoid Colon & will Perform a ROBOTIC SIGMOID COLECTOMY surgery on Friday, 7/28/23. Results of Surgery will determine next Steps of Treatment & Procedures.
