Malin2Mizen For Amber Womens Refuge

As you all may be aware, The DoitforDan Trust has reached their target, which is amazing news!

 

They have paused all new donations and we have therefore decided to redirect our fundraising efforts to Amber Women’s Refuge.

 

Well done and thank you to everyone who has walked, run, cycled or donated in the past 4 days!

 
 

We would ask that you keep up your efforts for the refuge, which is another very worthy cause:

Amber Women’s Refuge provides emergency refuge accommodation and various support services for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

This charity is currently running the project on a very limited budget and grant proposals have been suspended due to Covid 19.

They need vital funds to continue supporting women and children during this time.

They are also looking at renovating their garden space at the refuge to make it a therapeutic experience for the women and children using the space.

They are hoping to buy a ‘Shomera’ to include in our renovation of the garden, to use for play therapy/counselling facilities. This alone will cost up to €30,000.

Incidents of reported domestic abuse have risen so far by 24% during this lockdown.
