Mal's 2024 surgery recovery fund

[UPDATE, 11/22/2024 - I HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN FFS SURGICAL DATE OF DECEMBER 20TH!!!!

Tremendous thanks to everyone who helped fund the first portion of this earlier this year. I was out of work for longer than anticipated.

For FFS, I am expected to be out of work for a full 2 months. I work with dogs for a living, so I need to take extra time. Many of the dogs I work with are behavior cases, and I am no stranger to persistent jumpers and muzzle punches to the face.

This is all coming way sooner than I anticipated. And in a way, it's a lucky break as it means I get my surgery before inauguration day.

Please help me by donating whatever you can, or sharing wherever you can. I am so excited, a little nervous, and hope I can make ends meet and keep my bills and rent paid while I am out of work.

Hi! My name's Mal. Internet olde goddess, ocassional blogger and retired poster. I am a trans woman about to undergo important medical treatment. I have two procedures planned, one a few weeks from this posting and the other toward the end of this year.

2024 is going to be a big year for me. Surgeries that were once out of reach to me are within my grasp. I am having an Orchiectomy, and Facial Feminization Surgery. My orchi is in a few weeks on April 16th, and my FFS consult is august 26th!

The recovery for these surgeries is long. And I don't make a whole lot of money right now. Based on the projected amount of time I'd be out of work for these surgeries, i have set a goal that represents the income i will be missing during recovery, alongside a little padding for emergencies or longer than projected recovery. Orchi should have me out of work for 2 weeks, but FFS may have me losing over a month. While I have insurance that covers this, I do not have work that gives me vacation time or paid medical leave. I am completely on my own, and attempting to do my physically demanding work during recovery could cause me harm and complications.

I had a rough year last year with lots of moves because of unstable housing, a surprise dental emergency, and a huge shakeup in my career. I lost a lot of money from all this, but I finally have a home and stable ground beneath my feet and a growing career. The money from this fundraiser will help me maintain stability as i take these planned breaks from this.

I have waited my entire life for these surgeries. I am finally in a place where they are covered and attainable. I am staring down the dates. But i cannot afford to lose work OR put these off. By donating, you are helping make what was once a wild fantasy to me a reality free of pain and consequences, with safety and security during my recovery.
