Malverne Family Needs Your Support

With great sadness I am sharing the loss of Cindy Brand Rettagliata. At the age of 52 Cindy lost her life to breast cancer after only two short months of fighting. Cindy was a beloved mother and friend to many in the Malverne and Brooklyn communities. Cindy was supporting her three teenage children Stephen (20), Darian (19), and Gabriella (17).

Many knew Cindy for her friendly nature and beautiful smile that lit up any room. Cindy had a humorous personality and contagious laugh. She was hardworking, independent, and selfless. Cindy always put her children first, even as a full-time working mother, and gave them the best life possible. There was a never a game or school event missed. The Rettagliata children participated in various CYO sports for Our Lady of Lourdes and activities at Valley Stream North High School. Stephen was a proud member of the Eagle Scouts and Honor Society, Darian participated in various sports and after school activities, and Gabriella was apart of the marching band and basketball team throughout high school. They learned from their mother how to be a great friend and caring member of their community. As Cindy was, they are selfless, hardworking, and extremely strong individuals.

This past June at the age of 52 Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shortly after her diagnosis, Cindy was admitted to the hospital. After developing fluid in her heart and having surgery, she bacame too weak to continue chemo and radiation. Unfortunately the cancer quickly spread and took over her body. After only two short months, Cindy lost her battle to this horrific disease.

Education was always most important to Cindy, and she wanted her children to always have the best. Stephen is a junior at SUNY Oswego, Darian is a sophmore at SUNY Cortland and a member of Sigma Delta Tau, and Gabriella is going into her senior year of high school. This is a crucial time in their life, especially for Gabriella who will be graduating high school in early 2022. With your support, we wanted to help the Rettagliata children in anyway possible and ease the burden of the tragic loss of their beautiful mother. Cindy was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
