Hello loved ones, both near and far!
Many of you know me, but for those who don't, my name is Malxolm Nicholas and I'm a trans-masc individual. I've been out publicly for nearly three years now and on T for almost eight months. I'm very grateful for the progress I've already made in my transition, both medically and with the love I've received from my community.
My next step is to receive top surgery, which I am in the last phase of finalizing for a date at the end of the calendar year (many things have been pushed back due to covid-19). I am in a very privileged position to have insurance that will cover a bulk of the cost, however there is still much I will have to pay out-of-pocket. While I had been saving towards this goal, my lack of work due to the pandemic has forced me to exhaust all of my savings. Although I currently have insurance through my job, my eventual re-enrollment in college will make me ineligible to keep it since I will no longer work as many hours necessary for the audit; if I were to postpone my surgery, not only would costs drastically increase due to lack of insurance, but my mental health as triggered by my dysphoria.
Top surgery has been a dream of mine even prior to me coming into my trans-masc identity, and I would be more than grateful for this chance to achieve this goal.
