Mamie Deah Tahmen in Memory of Dorothy R. Adam
Donation protected
God sent us a hero when he sent us Mamie Deah Tahmen as a live-in caregiver for our mother, Dorothy R. Adam, who passed away on November 11, 2022. For the past nearly three years, Mamie has relentlessly dedicated herself to Dorothy’s care and has fought through tremendous odds to give our mother a quality of life that many suffering with dementia do not get to experience. She stayed by our mother’s side through our mother’s battle with Covid-19, two strokes, and numerous other obstacles, always committed to giving her unsurpassed quality of care, never spending an evening away from our mother during this time. She sacrificed so much of herself and so much of her own life to give our mother the consistency of her smile, her gentle touch, her soothing voice and her compassionate care. This brought such comfort and joy to our mother each day. Mamie’s strength, tremendous work ethic, and dedication was aimed at caring for our mom as someone “Living with, instead of dying of Dementia”. She grew to love our mother dearly, and their attachment to each other was evident to all. Because of this love, Mamie vowed to our mother and to our family that she would stay until the end. And she did. The passing of our mother has left this wonderful woman, lost and confused, with tremendous grief, and filled with uncertainty about her future, both professionally and personally. She hasn’t seen her own mother in Liberia for quite some time. We are hoping that, with some help, we can enable Mamie to take some time to heal emotionally, simply to rest, and possibly to visit her own family, giving her an opportunity to decide her next chapter. Therefore, we are asking on behalf of our dear mother, Dorothy, that in lieu of flowers and gift baskets for our family, that monetary gifts be given to Mamie, to celebrate the hero she is.
