Mamma Fords Continued Battle with Terminal Cancer

UPDATE: 11/25/21:

Unfortunately, mamma Ford is now in hospice. I’m doing my best to keep her comfortable for the time she has left. I personally administer her IVs through her port in her chest.  It’s important to me to make sure everyone knows where their hard earned money they have donated goes. At this point, the money is going towards the IVs that I mentioned below. Due to the liver pain caused by the metastasis and growing tumors, it makes it difficult for her to eat and consume fluids. Because of this, the only way to help her body avoid malnourishment is hydration IVs. 

These infusions are not cheap and unfortunately they are not covered by insurance. Our goal is to raise enough money to allow her to get these infusions 2-3 times a week to help her remain pain free for the time she has left.

At this point, mamma has her own hospital bed in my own home. I’ve personally administered 3 different IV drips for her since moving her into hospice. With the medical debt we have acquired over the years, I want to be very clear that THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE financially without the support of everyone that have already donated. Laurie’s (Mamma Ford’s) Journey:

Laurie Ford was re-diagnosed with terminal breast cancer that had metastasized in all her bones and organs in February of 2017; just a month after her son, Kortne Ford, signed his first professional contract with the Colorado Rapids. The doctors gave her 3-6 months to live. At that point in time, she was determined to be the miracle. The Colorado Rapids community helped raise her enough money to travel to Mexico to receive a number of different alternative treatments to give her the best shot of extending her life. Out of the 8 patients she attended the facility with, she is the only one still alive.

Over the last 4 years, she has been reevaluated by a multitude of different doctors and been given 3-6 months to live on four different occasions, but she just continues to fight.

Over the last couple months, she has experienced a rapid decline. It’s gotten to the point where she is now more focused on being pain free versus continuing to receive chemotherapy and other clinical trial medications to continue fighting the cancer.

Laurie is a miracle in many ways… So many people have helped her along the way and as a family, we could not be more grateful. We hope and pray that her story inspires others to keep fighting their battles, regardless of what they may entail.
