MAMMONE FAMILY

Donation protected
Tan Mammone is a long term PED employee who has recently ran into a few personal problems which will weigh heavily emotionally and financially. He has recently welcomed child number 3 into his family which was a very special time for all of them. Unfortunately, that is the only really good thing that has happened in the past 4-5 months.

His family spent the Christmas celebrations in the Eltham area where his parents and Grace (his wife) parents live. They returned home after Christmas to find that their house was flooded and had been that way for 3 days. Insurance company was contacted, and they provided dehumidifiers to help dry the affected areas. The family of 5 was reduced to 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom which was fairly difficult with a newborn. Some work was done by Tan to divert the water away should rain fall again. This was to no avail when a second downpour of rain happened after the new year and flooded the house once again. An excavator was then hired to dig larger trenches to divert the water should a large amount of rain fall again.

Tan has had some back issues in recent times and things flared up to a point where he was sent to have MRI scans as movement was not only painful but very limited. He was immediately informed to go straight to emergency and prepare for immediate surgery to rectify a ruptured disc. An ambulance rushed him to Rosebud hospital and was then transferred to Epworth for surgery on Saturday. The surgery went really well, and he is now in a rehabilitation hospital where he will remain for up to 2 weeks. The recovery will be long, and he will not be able to work for up to 2 months, depending on how quick or slow it takes to become mobile and pain free. Will likely be a minimum of 6 weeks before even being able to drive a car.

This will be a very difficult time for his family and especially Grace with having to look after a newborn, organise the other 2 kids to get to school and care for Tan’s needs once he is home. Grace is unable to work with a newborn and Tan will not be able to provide an income while he is not at work. He does not have any sick leave or holiday accrued as this has been used up with his past back issues throughout ’23.

I would like to reach out to the PED community to assist Tan and his family financially with a contribution to assist with paying the day to day bills, meeting shortfalls in rehabilitation costs and putting food on the table. Your help with this matter is much appreciated and will go a long way in assisting a family in need.
