Father, Husband, with brain tumor in need of help

Hello, My name is Gabriel Whitehouse. I am the sole provider to my family. My wife is a stay-at-home mom to our special needs little girl. My family is my whole world. I have a daughter who is 21, a stepson that is 14, another stepson that is 12, and my youngest daughter is 6.

Over the several few months, I have been in and out of doctor's offices. In May I went in to have what my PCP thought was a Lipoma taken off my head. While they had my head open I started to bleed profusely. They only managed to get a small amount out then stitched me up. When the biopsy results came back my family and I found out I have a rare disorder called Scalp AV Malformation that is caused by blunt force trauma. I was sent to have an MRI done to see what type of specialist needed to remove it from my head. The MRI results came back and another unforeseen thing occurred. I was told they found something on my MRI and needed to see a Neuro Surgeon.

I saw the Neuro Surgeon and she informed my wife and I that there was a tumor and she suspected that it was a Pituitary Growth Hormone Tumor. She said she came to this conclusion just by looking at me. I was sent to have another MRI with Contrast to see the size and location better and have a ton of blood work done. When the results came back the Doctor told us that it was as she suspected a Pituitary Growth Hormone Tumor. It is big and has started to grow over the coronary artery. I have been to see an ENT, Endocrinologist, Pulmonary specialist, as well as my Cardiologist. During this time we found out that I have a very rare disorder called Acromegaly. I have many tests done and now I finally have a surgery date: Oct 17th.

Surgery was a success. I am at home now resting and recovering. I will not be allowed to go back to work till the doctors clear me in 3mnths time. If the MRI and blood work do not come out good I will have to stay out of work longer. Thank you all for your prayers, donations, and thoughts.

I am a hard-working man who loves his family. I normally work between 55 to 60 plus hours a week. I run two shops and take pride in what I do. But since June I have not been able to work a full work week with all the appointments I have been going to on top of the appointments we have for our daughter. We have spent over $40,000 for just my medical bills alone. With all the lost hours and money dwindling my family and I are at risk of being homeless. There are things that I can not apply for till after I know when surgery is but they will only cover part of our bills. I am asking for help because I do not want my family to become homeless. After all, I am sick and unable to work.
