Bring Baseball to Manaoag Philippines School

The Blalack and Evangelista families are organizing this fundraiser on the behalf of the Manaoag National High School. 

Recap
In February 2020 the Blalacks visited our family in the Philippines where our mother was born and raised in the province of Manaoag.  We wanted to spread the love we have for the game of baseball to the kids and give back to the school. We brought enough baseball supplies for two teams including all-new gloves, helmets, and baseballs. We held an all-day baseball camp showing them how to throw, catch, field grounders, hit, swing, and covered the fundamentals of the game. Then we split the kids into two teams (Dragons vs Hotdogs) and scrimmaged for hours! The kids couldn't stop playing, the camp was a success. Most of those kids had never played baseball but surely at the end of the camp, they all loved it!

Coordination was terrific through the school principal, teachers, sports coordinators, and the Evangelista family. We were fortunate to have complete compliance allowing us to have our camp during the school day making gathering the kids easier. The school even reserved the podium for our opening ceremonies and the art room for lunch and introductions. The support was truly genuine and the experience to play baseball with kids where our mother went to school was awesome.

History
Our Mom has been an inspiration for our family. She is 1 of 6 kids and was the first of her family to come from the Philippines to America in search of the American dream.  Finding her way to Texas she became a nurse and worked for 30+ years in the ICU.  When she moved to Houston she met a great man. Our Dad, an East Texas kid who moved to Houston in search of a future. They created a loving family of 3 kids. Our dad introduced and inspired us to baseball. 

Baseball has never been an official sport for the Manaoag school. With your help, we can make that happen. 

Goals and donations will go towards:

-Creating a Manaoag baseball team/ league 
-Providing enough baseball gear and supplies to support multiple grades and age levels. More gloves, baseball, tee's, bats, etc.
-Our stretch goal is to build a baseball field at the school! There is currently a dirt field at the school where we hope to build an official field
