Manawan Collaboration
SKATEBOARDS, SKATEPARK, GUITARS AND ONGOING MUSIC
WORKSHOPS FOR THE YOUTH OF THE ATIKAMEKW COMMUNITY OF MANAWAN IN QUEBEC
✨
With the community of MANAWAN, we have come together in planning an event from August 6-8, 2021.
There will be MUSIC and SONGWRITING workshops hosted by REUBEN AND THE DARK + SKATEBOARD ramp building and LESSONS hosted by COUSINS Skateboard Community.
This initiative will include a MURAL collaboration working with local and national artists Eruoma Awashish and Meky Ottawa including Vancouver locals Claire Ouichi and Rachel Rivera of WKNDRS to bring to life a tribute painting prepared by Marie-Claude Nequado to honour the life and memory of Joyce Echaquan.
Working with a number of collaborators from across Canada, we hope to create some lasting relationships and continue to build on for years to come. Our goal is to hold space for healing between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of Canada in the hope that this event can also be a step forward to bridging the gap between cultures and greater communities.
This event is being made possible by everyone’s donations of time, energy and finances. We are very grateful to ROUTINE. (@routinecream) for their partnership and continued commitment to this project as well as the Community of Manawan for their support.
All money raised will go towards materials, supplies, transportation and artist honorariums.
We commit to ongoing lessons, workshops and support proceeding the event.
Thank you very much for your contribution.
Mikwetc!
