Mandy Weathers' Lung Cancer

My friend, Mandy Weathers, who had just turned 41 years young, was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. This Go Fund Me is for supplemental income and to assist with medical expenses not covered by her health insurance while she is out of work receiving treatment.

Her story:

On 5.25.23 after struggling for 3

+ weeks with strep throat and a respiratory virus, a third doctor was seen and recommended a chest xray.

This image revealed an unknown mass in the right lung. A CT was ordered for that same day which confirmed the first mass and discovered a second also in the right lung. A lymph node was also identified to be inflamed and constricting the trachea which was adding to breathing issues during the respiratory virus. One week later a lung biopsy confirmed the masses are non-small cell carcinoma lung cancer staged at 3b. This means more than one tumor, regional lymph node involvement, and no identified metastisis to other organs as of yet.

A pet scan would later add two more affected lymph nodes in the right neck and right collarbone areas to the affected list.

A plan was devised to treat with 30 rounds of targeted radiation therapy 5 days per week for 6 weeks along with 7 weekly chemotherapy infusions of 2 different chemo meds. Both treatment regimens began on July 10th and given the possibilities of side effects along with the severe risk of contact with conatgious illnesses during immunocompromising treatment, July 9th was her last night of work for the time being. Once treatment has completed, there will be a 2-3 week recovery period to allow the treatment effects to continue while giving her body time to regain strength. After this period new scans will be done to assess the results and decide the next steps.
