HELP SUPPORT Mandy’s Soul Food Restaurant

Hi Everyone! My name is Delicia Bowling Owner of Mandy’s Soul Food Restaurant in Bolingbrook Illinois. My love for cooking started when I was a little girl watching my mom and grandmother cook and loved the way it would bring our family together. Little did I know I was taking mental notes and storing recipes that I use to this day!

After working in the medical billing industry for over 20 years I found myself unfulfilled. Throughout the years I found myself having get togethers for birthdays and holidays and every year it would get bigger and bigger! People really enjoyed my food and hopefully my company :). Looking around the room at the happy faces, no one on their phones, the laughter, real conversation brought joy and happiness to my life. So against all odds with family in tow I took the plunge and opened my doors in 2017 with a humble goal: to build a Soul Food restaurant that would embrace the community and serve as a gathering place for friends and families.

I’ve been in business for 3 years now and although it has its ups and downs, I can say I love it and can not imagine doing anything else. The location I’m currently in is not elderly or handicap friendly and we’ve outgrown the kitchen so I decided to relocate. We’ve actually closed on a place but I’m responsible for the build out. Now it has become difficult due to financial hardship.

I’ve been going through some difficult times but god pulled me through to continue to do what I love. April 17th, 2019 I lost my son Donte in a tragic truck accident. Losing him was the worst feeling I ever had to endure. I’m still not over it till this day. He leaves behind 3 beautiful kids which I now have custody of 2 of them ages 3 and 5. That makes me work even that much harder to provide for them.

As you know, hard times have hit us all in the restaurant/service industry and around the world. It saddens my heart to know of all the families who have lost a love one due to the Corona Virus or to have a family member and/or friend that’s infected with the virus.

We’ve had to close our dining room and cutback on our employees hours just to make ends meet. We are now depending solely on delivery and carry outs. We are trying to match our employees normal income so that they can pay their bills and take care of their family. With minimum income flowing in, it is impossible to match their payroll.

We desperately need help to keep our doors open, our employees working through this devastating time and finish the build out as I am at risk of losing it all. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and our endless thanks go out to you. #smallbusinessrelief
