Mandy Steele's Medical Fund

In September of 2015, our dear friend Mandy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. To say that the diagnosis was a surprise would be an understatement -- when Mandy received the news, her husband was on a plane headed to Texas for his job. No one, not even Mandy herself, expected the polyp that was removed from her colon to come back as cancerous.

Through it all, Mandy has amazed her dearest friends and family with her quiet strength, grace, and positivity. Every day we watch her tackle her job as a mother to three kids, a wife, and a case manager at BOST without complaint, and often the very day after receiving her chemo treatment.

If there is one thing we know it is this -- this is but a chapter in the life of Mandy and her family. A chapter that will leave her stronger both physically and in her relationships with others and the Lord. Mandy has already been planning ways to help fellow cancer patients with their needs and their recovery, which is no surprise to those of us who know her best.

Unfortunately, rising medical expenses are another side effect of this awful disease. And while we know Many hates asking for help, we are attempting to do what we can on her behalf. Because we know that cancer does not discrimate. It could have been any one of us.

Cancer is not fair. The medical burden is not fair. The chemo port and the neuropathy and the horrible nausea that sometimes leaves her bedridden is not fair. But we hope that the outpouring of love and support can somehow balance the scales, even just a little.
