Shiva Lal Niroula, 58, of Pittsburgh, a neighborhood of Baldwin Township, PA passed away after fighting his best against his health condition on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Born on January 17, 1964, in Chokhana, district of Chirang, Bhutan, Shiva was the beloved son of Nandi Keshar and Nar Maya Niroula.
Shiva left too soon but he taught all of us to be strong in a difficult situation and be calm when things are going on our way. He was always there for his friends and family. He always taught us that if we do good, good will come back to us. Shiva is now gone but his spirit will always stay with us because if
you are humble and kind, the world will always remember and keep you in memory and heart for rest of your life.
Shiva, who was born in Bhutan, migrated to Nepal as a refugee due to a civil moment in the country. He lived in a Goldhap Refugee camp for 18 years. In those years, he served as a volunteer community leader while also working as a priest and helping the community with their cultural ritual. When the time was
difficult and survival was on the line, he went to India and worked as a security guard to feed his family.
Upon returning, he joined a Hindu temple to serve as a priest for the rest of his life in a refugee camp before finally immigrating to the USA in November of 2009 with the help of an international organization for migration. After immigrating to the USA, he started working as a janitor at south hills village mall for 8 years until his health condition prevents him from working. Also, at that time he was serving the Bhutanese community in Pittsburgh with all of our Hindu cultural and traditional worship and ceremonies. Since February 20, 2022, he was been treated for his health condition in Intensive Care Unit at UPMC Montefiore and Presbyterian where he breathed for the last time.
Shiva was survived by his loving mom, Nar Maya Niroula; wife, Dhan Maya Niroula, and Children; Daughters Tulsa and Madhavi; Sons Bala, Kamal, and Tara. Son in law; Hari Dahal and Hari Nepal. Daughter-in-law Menuka and
Uma. Grand Children; Aaryana, Aarohi, Aashna, Kavya, Aarju, and Shivani.
