Manu has been a part of our "family" for a while now, as well as becoming a part of the greater community family. In more ways than we could imagine she has been a significant part of our kids' lives as well as our own. She has brought something to our community that none of us could, a connection to nature and the world around us that most of us will never even know. Who else do you know that has been without food or water for 21 days, survived hemorrhagic Dengue fever, been gored by a wild boar and still made it across the Serengeti? With that said, you would think she has armor like a soldier, but she is vulnerable to hard times like this.
Manu does has Medicare, not PPO and has recently discovered she has malignant breast cancer. She has caught it fairly early, but the road ahead is questionable regardless, as is every case of cancer. The best way we can support Manu as a community is to relieve her of the medical financial burden she faces. She is currently incredibly healthy and is ready to face whatever comes ahead. The first step is to surgically remove the cancer from her breast, which will happen in the next month.
I will update you with her progress along the way and she excitedly will be going into the summer, exploring with our kids, educating them on the outdoors, conquering their fears as well as her own with high spirits.
