Hi, my name is Samantha Garcia and I'm one of 49 grandchildren of my abuelito Manuel Mercado. Like many, my abuelito came to this country for better opportunities and was able to foster a big loving family. Many of his grandchildren will always remember our abuelito's child-like personality. No matter how much older he grew he always acted like a kid at heart. He never failed to make us laugh. Our family was fortunate enough to recently celebrate his 79th birthday party on December 23rd. My last memories of my abuelito were of him dancing, smiling, and enjoying himself surrounded by our family. Unfortunately, he suddenly passed away on January 2nd due to heart conditions. It has been a sudden shock to our family and as a result we are trying to organize this funeral as soon as possible while having all our family still in town for the holidays. Anything helps.
