Manuel Villanueva Memorial Fund

We lost an El Cab Team Member yesterday due to the Coronavirus. Manuel Villanueva had a heart of gold and always a smile on his face.  He leaves behind his beloved wife and daughters whom he cherished. We are creating this fundraiser to help his family during this time of need, so that they will know how much he meant to us at El Cab.

In Memory of Manuel Julio Villanueva Mestanza,

Que Descanse en Paz, “May He Rest in Peace”

My dad, Manuel Julio Villanueva Mestanza, was born on November 11, 1952 in Trujillo, Peru and grew up in Chimbote, Peru. He lived in Peru until February 1994 when he came to the United States to have a better life. There were more opportunities here in the U.S than in Peru and he was so happy that he was here. He met the love of his life Liliana Monteza and she was born on August 7, 1963. God blessed my mom and my dad with each other and they spent almost 25 years together. My parents loved each other and took care of each other so much. Their love was one of a kind.

Here is their love story of my parents. My mom came to the United States in August 1995. They met in June 1996. Do you know where? At the bus stop in Van Nuys and Ventura. My dad asked for the time, when my mom did not have a watch, but he did. That is where it all started and their love story began. They had us on June 13, 1998 and because of my dad, my mom was able to have twins. When my dad told my grandma the news that they were going to have twins my grandma, Bertha Mestanza, told my dad “Tenias que ser tu”, translating to “It had to be you”. We had over 21 years with my dad and we all will cherish every second we had with him.

My dad was the best dad in the world and the best husband to my beautiful mom, Liliana Monteza. He was a jokester and loved making everyone laugh. He was so sweet, kind, and gentle. He was such a hard worker and he did everything for his twins to go to college and have a career. My dad was so proud that we were going to graduate from UC Riverside this June. He always said with so much pride to everyone “ Mis gemelas son mis ojos” translating to “My twins are my eyes”. Everyone that he met, he always showed our picture of us in his background on his phone, saying how proud he was of us. He wanted us to have a successful career and make a name out of us and have a beautiful life. He worked hard every day to give us a better life. He woke up almost every shift at 5 am to work hard for our family. My dad never complained about anything and always had a smile on his face and the best attitude every day when he went to work. He enjoyed working at El Caballero and was very friendly and a gentleman to everyone in every aspect. He loved working with his coworkers, meeting those who worked in different departments, and to those he saw walking from the parking lot. He respected everyone he met.

On April 10th, he got the dreaded phone call that my dad had the coronavirus. The very next day April 11th, he had trouble breathing and went to the hospital. For one month he fought hard to win this battle to be with us again, but God decided it was his time and didn't want him to suffer anymore. On May 8th, God gave him wings to heaven. With those wings he will visit us every day, protecting us and looking over us forever. We always think that my dad will come and open the door and give us many hugs and kisses as he always did. He left his wife and twins on earth, but he will always be here in our hearts and mind. We will always think of him with so much love.

In the name of my dad, thank you for everything you all have done for us. May He Rest in Peace and be our Angel forever.
