Mara Forges Ahead with Leiomyosarcoma

Hello Friends,

This is the 5th year of my intense fight against Leiomyosarcoma. I've beaten the odds so far, but I still have some bit to go for total victory. So here's where we are.

As I transition to accepting disability, we need your help now more than ever. We are faced with unimaginable financial troubles while fighting for my life.

My husband Keith and I have exhausted all of our savings and our extended families' reserve funds to help with my treatment these last five years and all of the help I've already received from friends.

I am digging deep to acknowledge my reality but also keeping the faith. I am using alternative medical procedures uncovered by insurance. We have emptied our savings account and 401Ks and opened up credit cards. And the community stepped up in unbelievable ways to support us - we are deeply grateful.

I am determined to give myself the best chance of living while being responsible. So I'm humbly asking for financial support. Please know this is just me wanting to live. It is me hoping for a miracle of a complete cure. It is me managing my pain as I try treatments that may help others in the future. It is me praying for more days and giving thanks to those I have.
