Marathon de Sables for the Cork Simon Community
At the end of March I will be taking on the legendary Marathon des Sables – a gruelling multi-stage adventure across the Sahara Desert. Dubbed "The Toughest Footrace on Earth" it is six days’ running over 250 kms across endless sand dunes, rocky jebels and white-hot salt plains, carrying everything you need to survive on your back. Daytime temperatures can reach up to 50C and drop to near freezing at night.
I'm raising money in aid of the Cork Simon Community. Homelessness is a shocking and disgraceful crisis in modern Ireland . The Cork Simon Community provides emergency support services to men and women experiencing homelessness. They operate a 47-bed emergency shelter, nightly soup run and outreach team, day service, youth drug prevention and health services.
Please consider donating to this very worthy cause if you are in a position to do so; every donation, however large or small will help make a difference.
Go raibh maith agaibh.
