Marathon of Blessings
“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
$2.00 - $3.00 (or whatever) doesn't seem like much, but if we work together, we can fill our community with giving and gratitude.
I’ve been thinking about this post for weeks now, trying to find the perfect way to put it out there, but I can’t seem to organize my thoughts the way that I want to so here goes nothing...
This is the year that I turn 40...not until October, but my running friends are out there doing some amazing things, running 40 races. You are all my heroes. Obviously running is a huge part of my life, and I can’t turn 40 without doing something this year, that involves running, that will make a difference.
2020 was a marathon of a year...there were ups and downs, positives and negatives, ugly and beautiful, people thriving but many hanging on just barely. There were so many horrible things going on that it was hard to see the good, but strangely, I came out of 2020 amazed and in awe of the kindness and grace that I saw in people. A family that made blessing bags for homeless people and went out in an alley to hand them out with only $57 dollars in their checking account on Christmas Eve. The people that donated a plane, a condo, their endless prayers to a family who can’t heal until they get their miracle. If you aren’t following the story on the page “Light for Levi and Lainey,” please do. I am so inspired by the good in people that I’ve seen lately, and I want to be part of that good. I want to help people, and I know many of you do too.
So after the marathon that was 2020, I’m going to take on a new marathon, and I’m hoping some of you want to help me. I’m going to run my second, and last full marathon, and I’m going to call it “The Marathon of Blessings.” My goal is to raise some money, and “bless” as many people as I can with what is raised. I don’t know what the blessings will be yet, but I have some ideas and maybe some of you do too?! Some blessings may be small and some blessings might be big, but a kind gesture can heal a soul that is struggling. A marathon is 26.2 miles, and if I can get as many people as possible to donate $2.62 (go fund me only allows even dollar amounts so maybe round to the nearest dollar),imagine what we can do for our community. I don’t know what 2021 is going to bring, but what I do know, is that I’m bringing all the good I can into it.❤️
