Marc's Jerk Appendix
Donation protected
The above mad scientist is nearing the home stretch of recovery after a nasty attack from his jerk appendix. Said appendix blew up on him (for no reason I might add) Friday 6/9 and as of today, 6/17, Marc is still in the hospital battling the after effects. This jerk appendix had one of the worst explosions the Dr.s have ever seen. The surgery to clear the debris took five hours and Jen shared horrific details that I will spare you, but know that the words "bile" "tubes" and "vomit" were involved. Below is an excerpt from an email Jen sent me:
"Basically, Marc being hospitalized and having his appendix burst has thrown us for a loop. It was one of the most serious cases, with a 5hr surgery - starting laparoscopically and ending with them having to perform open surgery. He's been in the hospital 8 days already and is most likely going to be here til early next week. After that, he's expecting 4-6 week for recuperation. The Dr says he can't even lift a gallon of milk with one hand for a month. There's no way he can lift anything and work will be limited. Though we have insurance, there is a very steep deductible and we don't even know how much we will really have to pay out of pocket. We're really concerned because we don't know what other expenses and limitations are coming - from physical therapy, medications, potential equipment/supplies we'll need to purchase. "
Although family has been super helpful in caring for Jen and Marc's two children, they are having to pay for childcare. Being self-employed, they've also had to hire help to run their bookstore, Wow Cool Alternative Comics, while Marc is in the hospital and will need continued help while he recuperates at home and undergoes physical therapy. Why can't bills stop when we stop?!?
Anyway, if you are reading this and are friends with Marc and Jen then I'm sure you would like the opportunity to help them. Every little bit adds up.
