Marcel Zamora Family Memorial Fund

In January, we lost Marcel Zamora, loving husband and father, dedicated worker, and avid soccer fan. He leaves behind his wife, Elaine, and young son, Daniel.

Born on July 11, 1967 to Elena Caceres Zamora and Rene Zamora in Santiago, Chile, the family immigrated to the United States in 1977. A graduate of J.E.B. Stuart High School and George Mason University, he proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1986.

Marcel loved spending time with his family and beloved dogs. Playing and coaching soccer were his favorite pastimes.

Not only did he enjoy family time, but he also loved to work and took tremendous pride in a job well done.  Dedication, teamwork and a passion to make others happy were among the qualities Marcel brought to his career and his personal life. He was the ultimate handyman who was willing to help all in need, including his friends, family and neighbors.

Marcel was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force until 1990. When he left the service, he worked as a carpenter and a project supervisor and performed nearly every job in between.  His last job was in the homebuilding industry with Van Metre Homes, where he made an impact on everything he touched. His contributions will be long felt by the Van Metre team, both now and far into the future.

Marcel touched the hearts of everyone he met. He will be forever missed.
